Yo creía que los intelectuales no compraban "auto ayuda". Una vez más, para variar, me equivoqué. Me parece bien que te brinden toda el apoyo posible para terminar tu tesis y seguir con tú vida. Después de todo, yo estudio en un departamento donde la mayoría de los alumnos tarda, inexplicablemente, en promedio 10 años para terminar. Igual, si estudias antropología para ser profesor, no como hobbie, la pregunta es si tiene sentido que tengas un coach para terminar una tesis doctoral, cuando tú trabajo es escribir.
Es decir, tú ejercicio profesional consiste en que escribas, y si ya desde el vamos necesitas apoyo, tal vez deberías preguntarte acerca de tú eleción. Yo se bien que este evento no es para mi. Después de todo, para bien o para mal, yo voy a terminar este año. Es una cuestión de decisiones. No se puede ser una estudiante crónica, no hace bien a la vida y a la felicidad.

Alison Miller, PhD, is a professional dissertation coach, and author of, Finish Your Dissertation Once and For All: How to Overcome Psychological Obstacles, Get Results, and Move on With Your Life. In this workshop, she will cover:

1) Strategies to overcome procrastination and negative thinking

2) Making realistic timelines and goals for completing the various stages of graduate work

3) Creating realistic daily action plans

4) Eliciting accountability so you can increase your productivity and earn your degree

You’re invited to the Spring 2010 Schmitt Lecture on Tuesday, February 16^th at 4:00pm in the McKenna Hall auditorium.

Professor Stephen Barr from the University of Delaware will be presenting,

“The Argument from Design for the Existence of God & the Laws of Physics”

The so-called Intelligent Design (ID) movement has led to increased discussion of design arguments for the existence of God. Professor Barr will look at design arguments found in early Jewish and Christian writings and distinguish three kinds, which he calls the biological, the cosmic, and providential.  He will discuss how each kind fares in the light of the discoveries of modern science. The biological design argument is made more problematic by Darwinian evolution. But Barr will argue that the providential and cosmic design arguments are not only more traditional, but have been greatly strengthened by the progress of physics.  He will lay to rest a common misconception about how modern physics explains the order found in nature.

Estoy obsecionada con Lisbeth Salander.
Por suerte hoy no tuve una ametralladora en mi poder. En su lugar tenía una calculadora, así que me dedique a las matemáticas todo el día. Debería haber aceptado en su momento --todo pasado fue mejor-- la oferta del Citibank para trabajar como trader.
Detesto que los números, el poder, y el dinero esten en manos de un grupo de pitos erectos con problemas de autoestima. Si en ese momento hubiese tenido más huevos, o me hubiese cruzado con UNA mujer, tal vez la historia sería otra. Pero no lo fue. Mierda.
